Emotional Freedom Technique [EFT]

The basic principle of EFT is:

“The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system.”

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is based on the meridian system, comparative to acupuncture without the use of needles. The process is used to release negative emotional energy stored in the nervous system. It is used in the treatment of trauma, PTSD, phobias, grief, anger, guilt, anxiety, etc.

EFT often works when nothing else will!

The basic EFT technique involves holding a disturbing memory or emotion in mental focus and simultaneously using the fingers to tap on a series of 12 specific points on the body that correspond to meridians used in Chinese medicine. The theory behind EFT is that negative emotions are caused by disturbances in the body's "energy field," and that tapping on the meridians while thinking of a negative emotion alters the body's energy field, restoring it to "balance."

EFT was created by Gary Craig in the mid 1990s, and is meant to be a simplification and improvement of Roger Callahan's Thought Field Therapy [TFT] techniques. Craig trained with Callahan in the early 1990s. In 1993, Craig was the first person Callahan trained in his most advanced procedure, a proprietary procedure known as Voice Technology. Craig found through his experience that the sequence of tapping points did not matter and that special proprietary procedures were therefore unnecessary, so by the mid 1990s he had simplified Callahan's procedures. – Wikipedia

Tapas Acupressure Technique [TAT]

Developed by Tapas Fleming, the Tapas Acupressure Technique (TAT) is a leading-edge energy meridian healing technique to end stress, create vibrant good health and live a happy life (no matter how bad the problems might seem right now). The technique combines lightly holding a few acupressure points on your head (the TAT pose) as you put your attention on a problem and follow each step in the TAT process. With this technique you can profoundly improve any aspect of your life. See www.tatlife.com

DISCLAIMER: EFT and TAT is gentle and easy to use, and has to date yielded remarkable results for relieving emotional and physical distress. While there have been no distressing side effects reported to my knowledge, this does not mean that you will not discover side effects for yourself. IF YOU INTEND TO USE THESE TECHNIQUES, YOU MUST AGREE TO TAKE FULL REPONSIBILITY FOR YOURSELF AND OTHERS WHILE APPLYING THESE TECHNIQUES. You may wish to consult a trained EFT or TAT practitioner. If you use these techniques, you are agreeing to take full responsibility for yourself and others when applying the EFT or TAT technique, and shall neither hold Gary Craig, Tapas Fleming, myself nor anyone else associated with EFT or TAT responsible for any adverse side effects or outcomes.

Clearing blocks that prevent us from being, doing or having what we want is the essence of emotional and energy healing. Energy healing is all about fine-tuning the subtle energy frequencies in the body so that the person no longer identifies with the limiting belief, negative thoughts that block them from achieving their goals, aspirations and dreams. These limiting beliefs typically show up in the form of fear, self-doubt, insecurity and low self-esteem.

What is a block and how will I know if I have one?

A block is a limiting belief that literally stops people in their tracks. It’s that critical inner voice that struggles for its own survival, not yours. We know where our blocks in our lives are based on the way things are going for us.

For example, your self-esteem was assuredly greatly influenced by the things your saw, heard or felt from and by others very early in life. These others were primarily your family, your teachers, or even your classmates. Unfortunately, most people’s childhoods gave them many negative messages that are carried into and through adulthood. You hear the same messages given to you from others when you were young over and over again inside your head.

These statements became a part of your inner being and became your ‘writings on your walls’, your self-talk. The Inner Critic.

For most people, even though their self esteem (or lack of it) was developed primarily from the words or actions of others, it is based today largely on their on self-appraisals. If you don’t judge yourself harshly then, chances are, you easily handle negative criticism coming from others. However, it is when your inner appraisal of yourself agrees with the criticisms of others that you become distressed, depressed and unmotivated. It is a devastating phenomenon.

What we say to ourselves is very often a negative, expressed form of self-criticism. You become defenseless against your own negative thoughts. Any effort you make to improve your life, reach a goal, only results in self-sabotage thus proving the Inner Critic to be correct in its criticism. It is a never-ending downward cycle.

The good news: You have the power to change how you think through emotional and energy healing techniques.

Improving your self-esteem involves eliminating those negative beliefs from your thought patterns and installing new positive beliefs to take their place.

Limiting beliefs have different aspects. Eliminating negative beliefs is very much like peeling an onion. We work to uncover each ‘aspect’ of a limiting belief until we expose and resolve its origin.

Love and fear are the two basic primal drives that govern human behavior. Fear is an emotion, and all emotions exist at the level of the ego/mind. Fear can be helpful when is a natural response to danger that sharpens the mind's effort to anticipate and avoid potential peril or problems. But fear originates in the irrational part of the mind and it tends to increase irrationality by creating more fear, more negative beliefs about our selves and our world. Some of the beliefs that we may develop at early ages are not always healthy, and are created as a result of a traumatic or confusing experience that we have forgotten. How we unconsciously and consciously view the world in terms of money, for example, is generally based on such beliefs.

Beliefs about ones inadequacies instill doubt. Doubt and insecurity generates low self-esteem. Low self-esteem debilitates people’s energy and causes failures to occur. Security generates self-esteem. Self-esteem empowers people to achieve the goals in life that they desire to achieve. Simply stated, chronic fear is a debilitating state of mind because it weakens the body and soul. Chronic fear is associated with stress, depression and nervous disorders. This fear, these negative beliefs, limit peoples’ ability to achieve the goals in life that they desire to achieve.

Fear is nothing more than an acronym for False Evidence Appearing Real. Most of what we worry about never actually happens. Are your ‘What ifs” running your life? “What if” statements have no relevance to what is real. “What IS” is what is important. When we branch out into the unknown fear sets in. It’s that Inner Critic again trying to protect itself. Once we move past this fear we realize that we had nothing to worry about in the first place. What’s more, we accomplish what we set out to do! Each time we stretch beyond what we’re comfortable in doing we lessen our fears and build confidence in our selves and bring ourselves closer to reaching our full potential.

"I've had a lot of worries in my life, most of which never happened." - Mark Twain

Love is the opposite of fear. Love exists at a higher level than the ego/personality and it generates the emotion of joy, the feeling of peace, harmony, and the state of happiness. It can describe an intense feeling of affection, an emotion or an emotional state. Love is the most profoundly integrated state in the universe. It is simultaneously the highest, deepest and most powerful state of consciousness.

Anxiety is the clue that fear is present. If you feel intense anxiety or constant low-level anxiety that is not focused on an immediate danger, you are experiencing an illogical fear. When you transcend and overcome your fear, you will experience a feeling of power, self-confidence and success. Inner success breeds outer success. A good Life Coach can guide you through the transformation from fear to success to reach your unlimited potential.

Emotional healing techniques such as EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and TAT (Tapas Acupressure Technique) can significantly reduce symptoms related to PTSD.
